I find it very interesting that God created the ocean before He created the sky and the land. He also had "light" (let there be light) before he made Day and Night. God also created our souls before He created our bodies. To Him, becoming someone of excellence means starting with the heart and mind. He wants us to strive for perfection in character, so that we don't lose focus on what is important in this life. To the world, excellence is based on how much money you have, and what you do with it. But to God, authentic people are a rare find.
I draw inspiration from things that help me grow and mature. I've decided, like so many previous new years, to make resolutions for this new up-and-coming year. Unlike so many of the previous years, I'm going to stick to my decisions like it's going out of style. I really want to blog about something meaningful, and this is my chance. My health is very important to me, and so I want to start taking better care of myself, and my husband. I am a newlywed twenty-something, following along with my husband's lead, and career.
For the last year my thinking has really matured, focusing on very grown-up things like future children, taking care of my husband, paying the bills and helping putting food on the table. I work in a coffeehouse (ah the life of a post-undergrad), and my husband is finishing up his last semester at our local tech-school. Money is not in abundance, but we manage to get by fairly nicely.
The focus of this blog will be my spiritual health. And more than that, it will be about becoming the woman treasured by God; the woman of Proverbs 31. Proverbs is known as one of the books of Wisdom. And it is full of proverbs, wise sayings, and knowledge that surpasses even some of the smartest people in the world. In the past I was known for having zeal and thirst for knowledge about God and the Scripture. In college, I was extremely focused on learning all I could (I developed great fervor). However, now that I am graduated and sharing a life with my husband, my walk with God has become a secondary priority.
For as long as I can remember, Proverbs 31 has been one of my most favored passages in the Bible. The woman described in it sets the bar very high, but really does make the reader look at what is important in life.
This blog will will document literal changes in my life, whether applied spiritually or physically. All this said, I have found that both eating healthy (spiritual and physical food), and strengthening my body and my spiritual walk with God deserve a lot more attention than I am taking the time to give. It is my hope to develop positive, life-long habits so that I may bless my marriage, future children, finances, future generations, and most importantly, God.
Talk to you soon proverbial reader,
C.W.
